They always say you should "do what you love" and Julia Sloan does just that. What every girl loves... beauty. As the Vice President of Global Communications & Fashion Relations at Nars Cosmetics, Julia is non-stop traveling the globe, collaborating with amazing fashion brands, running the PR and Advertising show, oh and not to mention raising twins! All of which, I might add, is done very gracefully in her Saint Laurent heels and a seriously sick manicure.
I am sure all of my fellow beauty junkies can grasp my excitement when the opportunity arose to spend the afternoon with Julia, pick her brain, meet her team, and check out the new Holiday Collection. Uhm, hi, I will be over in 5 minutes! I mean, this is the holy grail of the multiple and don't even get me started on the new paint pots, they are glorious. Not to mention the fact that Nars taught me everything I know about blush. Pre-Nars, I was a self-proclaimed, "bronzer only girl". Poor thing!

"The One Night Stand Cheek Palette - I have a love affair with blush and this palette has the perfect mix of shades for everyone."

Holiday Crime of Passion and Splendor in the Grass palettes, which were inspired by the "uninhibited glamour" of Guy Bourdin’s photography.
AIWL: The Fling Lip Kit is only $49, for 4 lipsticks (now that is a gift!) and it comes in the cutest lip shaped container... what will you use it for? Does it double as a clutch?!
"I'll use it to house my jewelry or my Velvet Matte Lip Pencils!"
AIWL: What is your favorite piece from the Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection?
"Short Circuit Lipstick (below) - I love a bright orange-red lip."
AIWL: So, what is topping your holiday wish list?
"Anything Eddie Borgo or Pamela Love!"
AIWL: Oh yes, you seem to have a thing for accessories. Under your desk we found enough shoes to fill up Barneys and jewels everywhere else. What are you favorite accessories of all time?
"I love accessories! For shoes, my favorites are from Saint Laurent, Pierre Hardy, Balenciaga and Alexander Wang. When it comes to jewelry, I tend to gravitate towards cuffs and bracelets (I love stacking them). Right now, I’m wearing my daughter’s rose gold Pamela Love necklace. It's a ring engraved with her name on a chain. It was given to her by her godmother. I haven’t taken it off since she received it. (She’s 11 months old so I don’t think she’ll mind that I borrowed it!)"

"Thanks! I love our new Creamy Compact Foundation - I am wearing it in these photos. It gives really great coverage without being too heavy! I am also very diligent with my skin care routine. And, I use my Clarisonic three times a week."
AIWL: You have twins, how do you balance work and family?
"It's a hard thing to do and anyone who tells you differently is not being truthful! It's about finding the right balance in everything you do and not being frightened to ask for help. And, prioritizing. You can’t do everything."
AIWL: Any advice for girls who want to work in the world of beauty?
"Internship, internship, internship! A good internship can expose you not only to the right experience, but also to the right contacts. It will also help you identify your career path."
AIWL: What do you look for when you are hiring for Nars?
"An opinion and a clear understanding of our brand identity. I also look for someone who is very eager and passionate!"
