and fashion is fun again
it's impossible to be chic and comfortable, jk
Featured, Line I LoveCommentJenni Kayne's collection never fails to motivate me. So, who is this oh-so-perfect woman? In the Spring of 2014 she is sophisticated, yet approachable. As if, the coolest girl in all of California was recruited to live in Paris and run events at the Louvre. She is important, yet uncontrived. When she walks into the room you wish you were wearing something less trendy and you're tempted to toss a few pieces of your arm candy into your purse. Suddenly, a mens watch (worn solo) feels more sophisticated than any sort of stacked gold on gold combo or God forbid, a rhinestone situation.
There were boyfriend blazers, tailored bottoms, printed separates and everything else we expect from Jenni, shown in white on white with hints of lavender and nautical motivs. Shoes were plays on the classic loafer and mule mixed-in with a few flats (sans the Dorsey). Urggg I cannot wait to toss one of those jackets over my shoulders, is it 2014 yet?
Here I am at her Spring/Summer presentation in all leather Jenni Kayne everythan. Happy Fashion Week. Kiss b.
so I embellish a bit
All Fashion Everything, FeaturedCommentFace it, we would all wear ONLY Balmain and Chanel if we could... and what are both of those brands famous for? Embellished jackets. Tweed, sequin, fur, brocade, velvet. I don't even care what the fabrication is, as long as the shape works, an embellished jacket is all you need to take yourself from hot mess to superstar. So lets say you were out way too late, rolled out bed 30 minutes before you needed to be at work, feeling guilty and far from your cutest. This is where your jacket will save you. Throw it on over an oversized tank, add your fav leather shorts, some sort of flats situation, hair goes up in a pony and honestly you will probably show up looking cooler than anyone else. The key here is to know about this outfit in advance, because lets face it, we aren't always the brightest the morning after 4 vodka sodas.
Or say you are what I like to call "3 days in" which is when you are wearing a baggy tee and jeans that are supposed to be skin-tight (but you have been wearing them for 5 days straight and they are dirty as hell...but insanely, perfectly "cool" looking right now). Your hair is on the third day of its blow out (and you FINALLY look like an Olsen and no longer a Kardashian). We all know this time... it's like everything has finally come together, the epitome of being "perfectly unkept". Nothing takes this look to the next level like a jacket.
Embellished jackets are always changing, but you will be able to wear a cool one (go for black, navy or neutrals) for a couple of seasons. Especially if you can get a designer one, those actually become cooler with time. See some that I love in high and low price points in the gallery below. kiss b

Ground breaking: we like sweaters this fall
FeaturedCommentI spent Labor Day Weekend in the Hampton's with my girlfriends. Of course, we all had big dreams of wearing next-to-nothing one last time, but sadly, the sweaters were out in full force. Not that I am really complaining. There are SO MANY AMAZING trends happening this Fall. I mean, we are all about to be hella comfy! Have you heard that stilettos are basically out? It's all about rocking a lower, chunky, square heel (if you chose to wear a heel at all). Shoes are flatter, boxier, heavier... it's so amazing. Everything is androgynous and chill, with clean lines. We are all going to be wearing our silk pj's during the day, in flats. HALLELUJAH!
More on the fall trends soon, but for now lets see what my gf's are rocking during the day in early September... Lots of loose shorts or leather, paired with either a printed sweater or a simplistic and comfy one, and chill ankle booties (I just got these) or their Converse. One thing we all agreed on was the idea that a bright lip can totally keep your prefall clothes looking festive. As you can see below I (far right) used Urban Decay Saturated Stick in Crush (a.k.a hot pink) on my lips and paired it with a camel colored sweater and my trusty NSF army shorts, which kept my prefall look appropriate pre-beach bar!
Lot's of fun sweaters (in all price points) below to recreate Breanna's,Janete's,Caitlin's, or my outfit.
labor of love
Featured, Front Page SlideshowCommentAs far as I am concerned, Labor Day is the day before all hell breaks loose. I mean think about it... Fashion Week, back to school, the end of summer Friday's,...Fashion Week. Not to mention every thing you put off doing in August, because all of your contacts were on vacation, or just pretending to be. It's all about to come together, everyone's to do list in full force, all at the same exact time. I Googled, "Day after Labor Day craziness" and was shocked to realize the only thing that comes up are forums about "Being crazy if you wear white after Labor Day"? Honey, is that all you have going on?...
Because this is a "fashion blog", I will answer that question. Yes, you CAN and SHOULD rock white 365 days a year. I love white. Now that we have that out of the way... lets enjoy our long weekend, the calm before the storm. A day in the sunshine, with a glass of rosé and no use for your smart phone, except for maybe shopping all of the sales!!!

FeaturedCommentI have been living in this swing tank and my pj shorts. This look is so insanely comfortable, but can also be chic if you add stilettos and when you really want to look pulled together (or if you fear this is just too little clothing for late August) sit your fave blazer on your shoulders.
I am loving this Sally Lapointe swing, but the look can be replicated for relatively cheap. Here are a few swing tanks I love from ASOS (do the black) or this print.
Simply pair your swing tank up with any cheap and chic pj shorts. Try these, these (super short) or these (high waist) and DONE. You are the chicest girl on the streets, at the party, or hell...in the woods.
